SCP seeks report from Nadra, ECP on voting rights for overseas Pakistanis

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday directed the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to submit written responses regarding voting rights for overseas Pakistanis.

A five-member constitutional bench, headed by Justice Aminuddin Khan, heard the case concerning the voting rights of overseas Pakistanis. The court sought details from Nadra and the ECP on the measures taken so far to facilitate overseas voting, instructing them to submit a comprehensive report within two weeks.

The petition was filed by the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, currently incarcerated. Awami Muslim League head Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and lawyer Daud Ghaznavi had also approached the Supreme Court.
