FAISALABAD: Lahore Blues defeated Peshawar Region by nine wickets in the final to lift the National T20 Cup at the Iqbal Stadium on Thursday.
After bowling restricting Peshawar to an 110-run total, Lahore chased down the target in 16 overs with nine wickets in hand.
Umar Siddiq scored a match-winning unbeaten 64 while Junaid Ali scored an unbeaten 30 to help Lahore Blues defeat Peshawar Region in the National T20 Cup final.
Batting first, Peshawar Region had a dismal outing as they faltered in the all-important clash and managed 110/9 in the allotted overs.
The side was off to a shaky start as opening batter Waqar Ahmed departed in the second over with just 10 runs on the board.
Peshawar Region then lost two more wickets in a quick session to sink to 26/3 in 3.4 overs.
Peshawar’s in-form batter Sahibzada Farhan was caught and bowled in the seventh over, inflicting a heavy blow to their inning.
Captain Iftikhar Ahmed and wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Zulkifal then stitched a 38-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
However, the partnership ended in the 13th over after Zulkifal was dismissed on 32 off 29 deliveries.
Peshawar Region then suffered another collapse, which saw them lose three wickets in quick session.
Iftikhar Ahmed remained the top scorer for his side with 34 runs as they posted 110/9 on the scoreboard.
For Lahore Blues, Salman Mirza was the pick of the bowlers, taking four wickets for just 21 runs in his four overs
Mohammad Irfan took two wickets while Qasim Akram, Nisar and Rizwan bagged one wicket each.
