SHEIKHUPURA: A major housing scam has come to light in Sheikhupura’s Tehsil Ferozewala, Kot Abdul Malik, Kala Shah Kaku, and key areas such as Muridke Road, Sheikhupura Road, Bypass, Nankana Road, and Ferozewala Road. Billions of rupees have been allegedly collected from citizens under the guise of housing schemes, with the backing and involvement of local political figures.
According to sources, developers obtained approval for small-scale housing schemes and falsely included adjoining agricultural lands owned by local farmers to expand their projects on paper. They then sold hundreds of thousands of files to unsuspecting buyers, many of whom have now lost their life savings.
Despite grand promises and attractive branding, these schemes have proven to be deceptive. Notable housing schemes involved in the scandal include Shaheen Orchard, Regal City, Shaheen Villas, Al-Aziz Garden, Hiran Minar Housing Scheme, Arc City, VIP Housing Scheme, Al-Qayyum Garden, Shadman Enclave, Omega Housing Scheme, SA Garden, Capital City, Green Valley, Ajwa Housing Scheme, Grand Housing Scheme, WAPDA Employees, Motorway City, Khatm-e-Nabuwat City, and others. The developers have been collecting installment payments from the public for over 3 to 15 years without delivering promised land or property.
In response, the Punjab government has taken notice of the issue and requested detailed lists of these suspicious housing schemes from Sheikhupura city government officials. A grand operation, similar to anti-encroachment drives, is expected to be launched in the near future to crack down on the culprits.
Citizens have demanded strict legal action against the developers, their political backers, and the complicit officials, along with justice and compensation for the affected victims
