QUETTA: The Balochistan National Party (BNP-Mengal) has announced the end of its 20-day sit-in at Lak Pass, Mastung, but pledged to continue its protest in the form of rallies across different districts.
Party chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal stated that while the sit-in has concluded, the movement is far from over. He announced that BNP would now shift its protest to district-level public rallies.
In the first phase, rallies would be held in Mastung, Kalat, Khuzdar, and Surab. The second phase would cover Turbat, Gwadar, and Makran, while the third phase would target Naseerabad, Jaffarabad, Dera Murad Jamali, and other regions.
Mengal revealed that the BNP’s central committee would meet in Quetta on April 18 to finalise the next steps.
He further criticised the governance structure, questioning whether Article 6 has ever been implemented in Pakistan or if the Constitution has ever truly been respected.
The sit-in was initially launched in response to recent arrests of human rights activists, and saw participation from BNP leadership, tribal leaders, families of missing persons, and members of the Grand Opposition Alliance, who expressed solidarity with Mengal and the BNP cause.
