Maryam hails collective efforts for steering country out of doldrums

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz hailed on Wednesday the collective efforts of the government and other institutions for steering the country out of the doldrums.

Addressing the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) parliamentary party meeting in Lahore, she highlighted that the nation had triumphed against India. “The aircraft which were thought to be invincible were brought down. Congratulations to all Pakistanis on the victory against India,” she said.

She stated that during her visit to Mayo and Jinnah Hospitals, it became evident that patients were being asked to purchase medicines from outside.

“The Medical Superintendent had no explanation and was therefore suspended,” she said, adding that the hospital’s basement was found filled with stockpiled medicines.

CM Maryam said that free medicines are now being provided across the entire hospital network, not just in emergency departments as was the case during the previous PML-N government.

“Next year, we plan to distribute nearly Rs100 billion worth of medicines free of cost,” she added.

“Whatever responsibility Allah Almighty has entrusted me with, I am striving to fulfil it to the best of my ability,” Maryam Nawaz declared. There is no lack of sincerity or effort on my part. I am ready to answer any difficult questions posed to me,” she continued.

“I am presenting my performance before party lawmakers. The purpose of the day’s parliamentary party meeting was not Senate elections or any other agenda, but rather to take members into confidence regarding the end of the previous fiscal year and the beginning of the new one,” said CM Maryam.

“The government and all institutions have worked with team spirit for the country,” she said.
