PTI faces confusion over Imran Khan’s release

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) remains embroiled in confusion regarding the release of its founder, Imran Khan, as conflicting statements from his family and party leadership continue to emerge.

According to details surfaced on Thursday, contradictions between the statements of Imran Khan’s sisters and senior party leaders have opened a new Pandora’s box. Aleema Khan recently advocated a “give and take” policy regarding her brother’s release and suggested a willingness for negotiation.

Meanwhile, PTI’s senior leader, Barrister Ali Zafar, contradicted her remarks following a meeting with Imran Khan. He said that Imran Khan had not authorised any deal and maintained that the only open channel for talks was direct communication with the establishment on national issues — not for personal relief.

“He clearly said there is no give and take. His doors are open only for direct dialogue with the establishment in the national interest,” said Barrister Zafar.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar said that Aleema Khan’s comments had been misinterpreted. He insisted that Imran Khan had categorically ruled out any form of deal for his release.

“People misunderstood Aleema Khan’s statement. She never proposed a deal. Imran Khan has consistently maintained he will never seek release through any compromise,” Gohar said.
