Türkiye and Russia have strongly condemned Israel’s recent aerial assault on Iran, warning that the escalation could destabilise an already volatile Middle East and undermine global peace.
In a strongly worded statement issued on Friday, Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry denounced the Israeli attack “in the strongest terms,” calling it a blatant violation of international law and a dangerous provocation.
“This attack, which clearly violates international law, is a provocative act that serves Israel’s strategic destabilisation policy in the region,” the ministry said. It further accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of deliberately sabotaging diplomatic efforts.
“Netanyahu does not want any issue to be resolved diplomatically and will not hesitate to jeopardise regional stability and global peace in pursuit of his own interests,” the statement added.
The condemnation follows Israel’s large-scale military operation against Iranian territory, which targeted both military infrastructure and residential areas. Iran has reported dozens of casualties, including senior commanders and civilians, and declared a state of emergency across hospitals.
In Moscow, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov also expressed concern over the escalating tensions. Speaking to Russian media, Peskov said the Kremlin was closely monitoring the situation and urged restraint on all sides.
“The sharp escalation in tensions between Israel and Iran is deeply concerning,” he said, as reported by Interfax news agency. “President Putin is following developments after the attack very closely.”
Russia has long maintained strategic ties with both Iran and Israel and has consistently advocated for de-escalation through dialogue in the region.
The coordinated reactions from Ankara and Moscow come amid a flurry of international responses to the Israeli strikes, which mark one of the most direct confrontations between the two regional powers in years.
Global leaders, including those from the United Nations and European Union, have also voiced alarm at the possibility of a wider conflict erupting in the Middle East. Diplomats have called for immediate restraint and urged both Tehran and Tel Aviv to avoid further military actions.
