US President Donald Trump issued a strongly worded message on Friday, warning Iran of even more severe consequences unless it agrees to a deal with the United States and Israel, amid rapidly escalating tensions in the Middle East.
In a post shared on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said he had given Iran “chance after chance” to negotiate but claimed Tehran “just couldn’t get it done.” He added that he had warned Iran that failing to act would lead to consequences “worse than anything they expected.”
“The United States makes the best and most lethal military equipment anywhere in the world—BY FAR—and Israel has a lot of it, with much more to come,” Trump said. “Certain Iranian hardliners talked tough, but they’re all DEAD now. It will only get worse.”
The statement comes hours after a series of Israeli airstrikes hit multiple Iranian cities, including Tehran, Shiraz, and Tabriz, killing senior military officials and at least six nuclear scientists, as reported by Iranian and international media. Iran has vowed retaliation and has already launched a barrage of over 100 drones into Israeli territory, further intensifying the conflict.
Trump’s remarks appeared to endorse the Israeli actions and framed them as part of a broader deterrence strategy. He warned that “the next planned attacks” could be even more devastating, calling the current situation a “slaughter.”
“There is still time to make this slaughter… come to an end. Iran must make a deal before there is nothing left, and save what was once known as the Iranian Empire,” Trump wrote. “No more death, no more destruction. JUST DO IT, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.”
Trump, who is campaigning for a return to the White House in the 2024 elections, has long adopted a confrontational stance on Iran. During his presidency, he unilaterally withdrew the United States from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal and imposed severe sanctions on Tehran.
His latest comments come at a moment of extreme volatility in the region. Israeli officials claim the recent military operation was necessary to eliminate high-value Iranian targets linked to weapons development and regional militancy. Meanwhile, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has vowed “severe punishment” for what he called a Zionist crime.
The United Nations and several regional powers, including Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, have called for restraint and warned against further escalation that could trigger a full-scale regional war.
