LHC rejects Imran Khan’s bail pleas in May 9 cases

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has rejected former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s bail petitions in eight cases related to the events of May 9, 2023.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Shehbaz Rizvi announced the reserved verdict on Tuesday, dismissing all bail requests filed by the former premier.

The court had reserved the judgment a day earlier after hearing comprehensive arguments from both the prosecution and the defense regarding the cases, which stem from the violent protests and arson incidents that erupted nationwide following Imran Khan’s arrest in 2023.

The FIRs against Imran Khan include charges of inciting violence, damaging state property, and disturbing public order during the protests that took place in multiple cities.
