‘Pakistan will defend sovereignty, national interest at all times’

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir delivered a powerful address at the commissioning parade of the 123rd Midshipman and 31st Short Service Commission Course at the Pakistan Naval Academy, reaffirming Pakistan’s resolve to safeguard its sovereignty and national interests in the face of regional threats.

“It is an honour for me to review the magnificent passing-out parade of our maritime warriors,” said the army chief, praising the cadets’ exceptional discipline and enthusiasm. “The cadets’ confident demeanour today reflects the high standards of training at the Pakistan Naval Academy.”

He also congratulated the award-winning cadets for their outstanding achievements, and extended special felicitations to the graduating cadets from friendly nations including Turkey, Bahrain, Iraq, Palestine, and Djibouti.

Addressing the newly commissioned officers, Field Marshal Munir stated: “You are about to become part of the Pakistan Navy — a force known for its strong military ethics, superior skills, and unparalleled professional traditions. I urge you to continuously strive to enhance your operational readiness.”

He noted that the nature of naval warfare is rapidly evolving and emphasized the need for Pakistan to maintain a strong, modern, and effective maritime force.

‘India’s arrogance a threat to regional stability’

Touching upon regional security, the Army Chief criticized India’s “arrogant and aggressive” posture, accusing New Delhi of trying to extract political mileage from its military might, nationalism, and false claims of strategic superiority.

He recalled that India had conducted two unprovoked attacks on Pakistan under the pretext of counter-terror operations, and on both occasions, Pakistan’s effective response prevented escalation into a full-scale conflict.

“Despite provocations, Pakistan exercised restraint and acted responsibly. But if our sovereignty is ever challenged again, the response will be decisive — and the consequences will rest with the aggressor,” he warned.

“There must be no misunderstanding: Pakistan will never tolerate an attack on its sovereignty.”

‘Pakistan a net regional stabiliser’

Field Marshal Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s role as a “net regional stabilizer”, highlighting that the country is steadily increasing its national strength. “Our resilience has only grown stronger through every trial. We are more determined than ever before.”

War on terror and Kashmir issue

The army chief emphasized that Pakistan is nearing victory in its war against terrorism, and reiterated unwavering support for the people of Indian-occupied Kashmir.

“As we approach success in our counter-terrorism efforts, India is deliberately trying to create regional instability,” he said.

Quoting Surah Al-Baqarah (2:249) and Surah Al-Imran (3:54), he underscored Pakistan’s faith in divine support and justice, especially in the face of oppression. “The struggle India labels as ‘terrorism’ is, in fact, a legitimate freedom movement, recognized under international law.”

He further added: “Until the Kashmir dispute is resolved justly and peacefully in line with UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, lasting peace in South Asia will remain elusive.”

The COAS paid tribute to the martyrs of the Kashmir freedom movement and lauded the bravery and resilience of the Kashmiri people, vowing that Pakistan will continue to extend political, moral, and diplomatic support to their cause.

‘Pakistan advancing despite hostile efforts’

Concluding his address, Field Marshal Asim Munir said Pakistan’s enemies continue to obstruct its path to progress, but their efforts will not succeed. “Pakistan is on its way to a brighter future. No force can derail our journey of development and national strength.”
