Mehwish Hayat shuts down explosive UK ban rumours

Renowned Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat has categorically denied reports circulating on social media that she has been banned from entering the United Kingdom, calling the claims “completely speculative and false.”

In a statement posted to her social media accounts, Hayat condemned the baseless rumours, which suggested that her alleged ban was linked to her appearance in Indian singer Yo Yo Honey Singh’s music video Jatt Katta. The actress clarified that no such action has been taken against her and termed the claims “deliberate false assumptions.”

“I urge responsible media platforms to verify such statements before sharing them,” she wrote. “Especially when these statements can harm someone’s reputation.”

The Miss Marvel actress further hinted at pursuing legal recourse against those disseminating the misinformation. “A record of such targeting information is being kept,” she added.

Hayat, who has received the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz from the Government of Pakistan for her contributions to the arts, is currently enjoying praise for her performance in the drama serial Dyane. She rose to prominence in 2012 with her award-winning performance in Mere Qatil Mere Dildar and later transitioned to film, debuting in Jawani Phir Nahi Ani in 2015. She also appeared in Marvel’s international production Ms. Marvel as Ayesha, earning her further acclaim.

The actress called on digital platforms and journalists to uphold ethical standards when reporting, warning that the proliferation of misinformation can lead to serious reputational and emotional harm.

The origin of the rumour remains unclear, but the episode underscores growing concerns around fake news and the role of social media in amplifying unverified claims.
