Ex-Olympian holds Shehbaz, Mashhood responsible for departmental sports’ suspension

Former Olympian Hanif Khan on Wednesday hold Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) chairman Rana Mashhood responsible for the continued suspension of the departmental sports.

According to details, expressing his thoughts, Khan said: “I don’t believe the prime minister holds any real power. How is it possible that the prime minister issues a notification, yet it is not implemented?” he asked. “If the prime minister truly had power, the notification would have been enforced immediately,” he added.

Khan held Rana Mashhood primarily responsible for the continued suspension of the departmental sports. “It is Rana Mashhood’s duty to find out why the departmental sports has not been restored,” he stated.

“If the prime minister had actual power, appointments for athletes would have been made within a day.”

He recalled that during the era of Zia-ul-Haq, saying sports were promoted across all departments.

“There used to be teams for hockey, football, cricket, badminton, and tennis,” he said.
