Imran Khan enjoys exclusive B-class privileges at Adiala Jail: Superintendent

Superintendent Adiala Jail Abdul Ghafoor Anjum rejecting claims said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Founder Imran Khan continues to enjoy an exceptional set of privileges inside the jail, far exceeding those usually granted to B-class prisoners.

In a detailed statement on Tuesday, the Superintendent said the PTI founder has been provided access to all B-class facilities, including food of his choice prepared by a designated prisoner cook, health services, personal books, daily newspapers, and an exercise cycle.

“He has also been allotted a complex comprising seven cells and an open courtyard for walking,” Anjum added.

The jail official further revealed that the PTI founder has a LED television in his cell and has been actively engaging with the outside world, including national and international media.

“During the past year alone, his statements have made headlines on 45 different occasions,” said Anjum, citing media interactions with outlets such as Fox News, The Wall Street Journal, ITV, Reuters, and The Telegraph.

Remarkably, the Superintendent disclosed that the PTI founder has posted 413 tweets during his imprisonment, many of which contained direct instructions to party workers regarding political mobilisation, including participation in the November 26 protests, Sambrial by-elections, and ongoing negotiations with the government.

He also used the platform to issue directions on constitutional matters, such as the 26th Constitutional Amendment. “He remained in contact with mainstream media throughout his trial period inside jail,” the jail chief added.

Anjum maintained that the level of access and facilities granted to the PTI founder surpass those given to any other B-class inmate. “No other B-class prisoner has been extended such comprehensive amenities,” he claimed.

Responding to recent speculation on social media, Anjum dismissed reports regarding the founder’s deteriorating health or mistreatment in jail. “There is no truth in these reports. Such stories are being circulated for cheap fame and sensationalism,” he stated firmly.

“The founder has more privileges than any other prisoner in Adiala Jail, and there is no discriminatory treatment being carried out in any form.”
