The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has released the updated list of reserved seats, with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) each securing nine seats for women.
According to details surfaced on Wednesday, the list was issued following a decision taken by the electoral watchdog a day earlier. As part of the update, the notification confirming the victory of JUI-F’s minority member Gurpal Singh has been withdrawn.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has been allotted five reserved seats for women. Both the JUI-F and the PPP have lost one women’s seat each, while the PML-N has gained one additional seat for women.
The JUI-F has also lost its minority seat. The victory notifications of JUI-F’s Bilqis and PPP’s Sajida Begum have been withdrawn as well.
Conversely, the notification confirming the victory of PML-N leader Syeda Sonia Hussain has been issued.
A toss will be held between the Awami National Party (ANP) and PTI-Parliamentarians to decide one reserved seat.
Following the latest allocation, PML-N and JUI-F each now hold nine reserved seats, PPP holds five, and both ANP and PTI-Parliamentarians have one seat each.
