PM chairs meeting on civil service reforms; forms new committee

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting on civil service reforms and announced the formation of a committee headed by Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal to modernize Pakistan’s civil service structure.

The premier directed the committee to present comprehensive, consultative reform recommendations within a month. He emphasized the need for clear strategies to enhance the capacity and performance of civil servants.

The committee has also been tasked with proposing measures to improve recruitment on merit, introduce performance-based KPIs, and suggest reforms or alternatives to the existing Annual Confidential Report (ACR) system.

Prime Minister Shehbaz stressed that the reforms must establish a sustainable and modern governance framework that aligns civil services with contemporary needs.
