With Pakistan currently ranked 8th in the world in T20 Internationals, Pakistan cricket team Coach Mike Hesson has emphasized the need to build squad depth, create internal competition, and adopt a more consistent playing style ahead of key events such as the Asia Cup and World Cups.
Reflecting on the team’s recent six-match series played on contrasting pitches, the PCB noted that the young batting group showed promise by posting scores over 200 in the early games.
However, the matches at Mirpur, one of the lowest-scoring venues in T20I cricket, tested the team’s adaptability.
Despite early struggles, the side made a strong comeback, demonstrating the ability to learn quickly through experience, he said in a statement posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Friday.
He said several newcomers stepped up with strong performances, and the PCB credited specialist coaches at the series and the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for playing a pivotal role in grooming bowlers.
Mike Hesson further said that fielding also saw a marked improvement, particularly in the last two games, with the team beginning to match international standards. He expressed optimism for the road ahead as preparations continue for upcoming tournaments.
