Following the failure of “Operation Sindoor,” Indian forces have reportedly initiated a new covert campaign called “Operation Mahadev,” involving fake encounters and unlawful detentions, according to Pakistani security sources.
Sources reveal that under the guise of “Operation Mahadev,” India aims to silence the growing freedom movement in Indian-occupied Kashmir while also restoring its internal political image.
The operation allegedly involves the use of forcibly detained innocent Pakistanis in staged encounters to present a fabricated narrative of counter-terrorism success.
Indian forces had already begun fake encounters immediately after the failed Pahalgam operation. Previously, on April 24, two civilians from Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Farooq and Muhammad Din, were reportedly martyred in a staged encounter after mistakenly crossing the border.
Security officials further claim that under this new operation, individuals imprisoned in various Indian jails may be killed and falsely declared as terrorists who infiltrated from Pakistan. This comes after the Director General of ISPR had already disclosed, during press conferences on April 29 and 30, that 723 Pakistanis were illegally detained in Indian jails. He also highlighted 56 Pakistanis held forcibly by Indian intelligence agencies, with no legal basis.
As part of the strategy, Indian media is reportedly being supplied in advance with visuals—videos and images—of the victims’ bodies alongside planted weapons to portray them as armed infiltrators.
Reliable sources warn that these illegally held detainees could also be forced to make anti-Pakistan statements or false confessions on camera, portraying them as “alive terrorists.”
These individuals may be used anytime as propaganda tools in India’s campaign of aggression against Pakistan.
Security experts state that the Indian military has long been notorious for orchestrating fake encounters in occupied Kashmir. “Operation Mahadev” is being seen as a continuation of this pattern, launched in desperation after India’s repeated failures, including those in Pahalgam and the discredited “Operation Sindoor.”
