SARGODHA: An anti-terrorism court in Sargodha on Friday sentenced Muhammad Ismail to 25 years in prison for his involvement in the violent May 9 attack on the Mianwali Judicial Complex.
Judge Muhammad Naeem Sheikh of the special ATC announced the verdict in case number 349/23, convicting the accused of vandalism and arson during the attack.
The court also directed the DPO Mianwali to arrest all 51 absconding suspects, including Ahmed Khan Bhachar, Ahmed Chattha, and Bilal Ijaz, within one month.
Earlier, non-bailable arrest warrants were issued for PTI senior leader Omar Ayub Khan, who remains at large. The court ordered continued legal action against him.
This follows a ruling by the Faisalabad ATC a day earlier, where Judge Javed Iqbal Sheikh sentenced dozens of PTI leaders and workers — including National Assembly Opposition Leader Omar Ayub, Senate Opposition Leader Shibli Faraz, MNA Zartaj Gul, and Sahibzada Hamid Raza — in three May 9 cases.
The court, however, acquitted 88 individuals, including Fawad Chaudhry, Zain Qureshi, and Khayal Kastro.
