South Africa beat Australia to face Pakistan in World Championship of Legends final

BIRMINGHAM: In the second semi-final of the World Championship of Legends, South Africa Champions defeated Australia Champions by one run to secure their place in the final.

Australia Champions scored 185 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs while chasing target of 186 runs.

South Africa, after winning the toss, decided to bat first and scored 186 runs. Morné van Wyk was the standout performer for South Africa with 76 runs, followed by JJ Smuts with 57, Jean-Paul Duminy with 14, Henry Davids with 11, Sarel Erwee with nine and AB de Villiers with six runs.

For Australia, Peter Siddle took 4 wickets, D’Arcy Short claimed 2, while captain Brett Lee and Daniel Christian picked up 1 wicket apiece.

Daniel Christian led Australia’s batting with 49 runs, followed by Chris Lynn with 35, D’Arcy Short with 33, Shaun Marsh with 25, Ben Dunk with 12, Rob Quiney with 9 (retired hurt), Ben Cutting with 8, Callum Ferguson with 3, and Nathan Coulter-Nile with 0.

For South Africa, Wayne Parnell and Hardus Viljoen took 2 wickets each, while Dwaine Olivier and Imran Tahir claimed 1 wicket apiece.

The final of the event is scheduled for August 2, where South Africa will face Pakistan. Notably, Pakistan advanced to the final via a walkover in the first semi-final after India refused to play against them.
