NAB uncovers massive land scam in Balochistan

QUETTA: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan has exposed a massive land scam involving the illegal occupation of 11,000 acres of government land worth billions of rupees.

According to NAB’s spokesperson, the bureau has approached the Quetta Accountability Court to freeze the fraudulent land transfers.

The investigation revealed a collusion between senior Board of Revenue officials, influential land mafias, and certain political figures who allegedly transferred valuable state land to frontmen.

NAB has intensified its probe in Quetta’s Karak, Sam Khail, Tala Haiderzai, Chashma Achozai, and Hub’s Mawali Shumali area, where land prices are extremely high due to prime locations.

The scam reportedly operated through a sophisticated network involving record tampering, fake allotments, manipulation of official orders, and illegal land transfers, often to proxies of powerful individuals to conceal the real beneficiaries.

Officials stated that several bureaucrats and political figures are likely to be summoned for questioning in the coming days.

NAB further emphasized that the magnitude of this corruption is not limited to Balochistan and could rank among Pakistan’s biggest financial scandals. The bureau aims to bring the culprits to justice and recover the national assets from unlawful possession.
