Shah Rukh Khan has won his first-ever National Film Award for his blockbuster hit Jawan, marking a significant milestone in his illustrious career spanning over three decades.
Known as the King of Bollywood, Khan finally received India’s most prestigious cinematic honor after years of delivering iconic, critically acclaimed performances.
Celebrating the moment, Khan took to Instagram to share his gratitude with fans and the jury. In his heartfelt post, he wrote: “Thank you for honoring me with the National Award. Thanks to the jury and the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. Grateful to the Government of India for this recognition. I’m overwhelmed by the love being showered on me. Sending a half hug to everyone today…”
Directed by Atlee, Jawan features Khan in dual roles—as a vigilante and an army officer—tackling powerful themes such as justice, social reform, and personal redemption. His performance was widely praised for its emotional depth and impact.
The film emerged as one of the highest-grossing Indian films of 2023, further cementing Khan’s reputation as a commanding screen presence and a versatile performer.
The star-studded cast also includes Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Sunil Grover, and Eijaz Khan. Bollywood icon Deepika Padukone makes a special appearance in the film.
In other National Awards highlights, Rani Mukerji was named Best Actress for her role in Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway, while 12th Fail took home the Best Feature Film award.
