Kulgam under siege as Indian occupation forces bar youth from marking ‘Youm-e-Istehsal’

SRINAGAR: The ongoing violent cordon and search operation by the occupation forces in Kulgam district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir entered its fifth consecutive day on Tuesday, further deepening the suffering of local residents, reported KMS.

The Modi regime has been unleashing a reign of terror on the valley since the start of August to bar Kashmiris from marking the Youm-e-Istehsal, the day when the Indian government revoked Kashmir’s special status through amendment to its constitution.

The KMS reported an official confirming martyrdom of one Kashmiri youth by Indian troops during the operation. However, independent media reports suggested that at least five youth were martyred since the operation began on Friday in the Akhal area of the district.

Indian police officials acknowledged that the troops are deploying drones, Rudra helicopters, and elite Special Forces to suppress resistance in the area. Clashes were reported between the Indian troops and youth, in which four Indian soldiers were injured, according to the latest reports.

Additional forces have been rushed to the area to reinforce the siege, which has now been extended to adjoining localities. Senior Indian officials, including Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat and General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 15 Corps Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava, visited the site to supervise the brutal operation.
