The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has developed an artificial intelligence-based application aimed at facilitating immigration procedures and preventing human smuggling.
Director General FIA Raja Riffat Mukhtar briefed Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi about the new app at FIA headquarters. The pilot project will be launched at Islamabad International Airport.
Interior Minister Naqvi said the initiative will help curb human smuggling while also saving passengers from long queues at airports. He directed immediate provision of funds to improve IT infrastructure and ordered the upgradation of FIA’s headquarters building.
Naqvi also instructed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to hand over newly allotted land for the FIA Academy to the agency without delay. Highlighting the shortage of staff, he directed that recruitment on already approved vacant posts be started immediately.
“I will ensure provision of all necessary resources, but you will also have to show performance,” the interior minister told FIA officials.
