Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on the sidelines of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) meeting in Jeddah, with both sides pledging to further strengthen bilateral ties and expand multilateral cooperation.
According to the Foreign Office, Dar lauded Turkey’s leadership role in regional affairs and expressed Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with Ankara on shared goals.
The two ministers reaffirmed solidarity with the Palestinian people and voiced grave concern over the worsening humanitarian crisis and famine in Gaza.
Both called for immediate delivery of humanitarian aid and relief supplies to the besieged population.
Earlier, in his separate address to the extraordinary OIC-CFM session, Dar warned that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s provocative remarks about establishing a “Greater Israel” pose a serious threat to regional peace and stability.
He said Israel’s insistence on exerting full military control over Gaza reflects a “rogue and annexationist mindset” that tramples international law.
Dar condemned Netanyahu’s statements as dangerous, stressing that they will worsen the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and derail peace efforts.
Pakistan, he reiterated, stands firmly with the Palestinians and will continue to advocate for their rights at every international forum.
In addition, Ishaq Dar met with the foreign ministers of Egypt and Algeria on the sidelines of the OIC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, in which the situation in Palestine was discussed in detail.
The meeting emphasised the need for immediate humanitarian assistance, a ceasefire, and the establishment of lasting peace in Palestine, while the unity of the Muslim Ummah was described as the need of the hour.
The parties also agreed to further strengthen the mutual relations between Pakistan, Egypt, and Algeria and increase cooperation with North African countries.
Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan will continue to play its role for the unity of the Muslim Ummah.
