PTI’s Junaid Akbar resigns as PAC chairman

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Junaid Akbar has stepped down from his position as the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman.

According to sources, Akbar submitted his resignation to Chief Whip Aamir Dogar. He also held a farewell meeting with the PAC staff, thanking them for their support during his tenure.

Sources indicate that Aamir Dogar will collect all resignations from PTI members and submit them to the Speaker of the National Assembly.

This move follows an earlier announcement by PTI leader Sanaullah Masti Khel, who also resigned from PAC membership. He stated that party members would collectively resign from the committee after a meeting, and that Junaid Akbar was also expected to resign during the same session.

PTI has officially announced its decision to withdraw from all parliamentary committees.

Earlier, Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, has stated that the former prime minister instructed the party to resign immediately from all National Assembly committees.

Speaking to the media, Aleema Khan said that Imran has given directions to Barrister Gohar and Ali Zafar regarding upcoming by-elections. He has asked the political committee to finalise its decision and report back to him tomorrow, she added.

She added that Khan has urged the committee to hold deliberations tonight about the party’s by-election strategy.

Regarding Imran Khan’s health, Aleema mentioned he is well, though he is feeling a minor issue in one eye, and the family wishes for a specialist to visit him in jail.
