PTI chairman steps down from four NA standing committees

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali has handed in his resignation from four standing committees of the National Assembly.

He submitted his resignations to the Speaker’s Office, stepping down from the Law and Justice, Human Rights, Information Technology, and House Business Advisory committees.

The move comes hot on the heels of other PTI lawmakers quitting key posts. Just a day earlier, Junaid Akbar resigned as Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), sending his resignation letter to Chief Whip Aamir Dogar.

Earlier this month, Faisal Amin Gandapur, brother of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, also threw in the towel from three standing committees.

He wrote to the Speaker of the National Assembly, stating that the decision was taken on the direction of PTI’s founding leader.

With a string of resignations piling up, PTI’s representation in key parliamentary bodies seems to be thinning out, signaling deeper party strategy and growing political maneuvering in the capital.
