Pakistan files complaint over Fakhar Zaman’s suspicious dismissal against India

Pakistan’s team management has formally raised concerns over Fakhar Zaman’s controversial dismissal during the high-voltage Asia Cup clash against India on Sunday, alleging that the third umpire failed to properly review the evidence.

Formal complaint filed

According to sources, Pakistan’s team manager has written an email to the match referee and umpires, questioning the decision-making process that led to Fakhar Zaman being given out. The management claimed the TV umpire did not examine all available angles before ruling in favour of the fielding side.

Controversial catch sparks debate

Fakhar’s catch-out stirred immediate controversy, with team officials insisting that the ball appeared to have touched the ground before reaching the wicketkeeper. The management argued that in such ambiguous cases, the benefit of the doubt should be awarded to the batter.

Protest against decision-making

Sources further revealed that Pakistan’s protest emphasized how the evidence was not “clear and conclusive” enough to justify ruling Fakhar out. Instead, the umpire’s call favoured the fielding side despite replays showing uncertainty.

Fakhar Zaman’s dismissal raises questions

Speaking at the post-match press conference, team captain Salman Ali Agha suggested the umpire may have erred in dismissing opener Fakhar Zaman.

“I think the ball hit the ground and went into the keeper’s hands,” he said. “If Fakhar had played the entire powerplay, the score could have gone up to 190.”

Despite this setback, Agha acknowledged that Fakhar’s innings, along with Sahibzada Farhan’s, were among the positives from Pakistan’s batting performance.
