Abrar Ahmed breaks into ICC top five T20 bowlers

Pakistani spinner Abrar Ahmed has stormed into the ICC top five T20 bowlers, rewarded for his brilliant Asia Cup performances. The leg-spinner jumped 12 places to secure the fourth spot in the latest ICC T20 rankings.

Abrar Ahmed’s standout bowling spells in the Asia Cup earned him a huge leap, placing him among the world’s elite T20 bowlers. His entry into the top five is seen as a major achievement for Pakistan’s spin department.

Other Pakistani bowlers on the rise

 

The updated rankings also brought good news for other Pakistani bowlers.

  • Shaheen Afridi climbed two places, now ranked 25th.
  • Haris Rauf moved up nine spots to 28th place.
  • On the other hand, Sufyan Muqeem slipped three places, dropping to 14th position.

Shifts in T20 batting rankings

 

Among the batsmen, Sahibzada Farhan made the biggest jump, soaring 31 places to reach 24th position after strong performances with the bat.

However, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan both dropped in the rankings. Babar slipped nine places to 35th, while Rizwan dropped five places to 38th.

All-rounder rankings: Saim Ayub holds steady

 

In the all-rounders’ list, Saim Ayub maintained his fifth place, continuing his consistent run in T20 cricket. Meanwhile, Faheem Ashraf climbed 12 spots, now sitting at 39th place among all-rounders.

Reward for Asia Cup performances

 

The ICC highlighted that the rankings reflect the impactful performances of Pakistani players during the Asia Cup, where Abrar Ahmed’s spin bowling stood out as one of the tournament’s best.
