The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to auction 800 kanals of agricultural land belonging to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Zulfi Bukhari, a close aide of former premier and party founder Imran Khan, in connection with the £190 million corruption case.
The Assistant Commissioner of Jand Tehsil, District Attock, has issued a public notice stating that the land will be auctioned on October 1, 2025, at 11 am in the Municipal Office, Jand.
The development follows an accountability court verdict on September 14, 2024, when an accountability court in Islamabad ordered the seizure of properties belonging to Zulfi Bukhari, who was also an absconder in the £190 million corruption case.
AC Judge Nisar Javed Rana pronounced the verdict after the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) submitted a request to confiscate Zulfi Bukhari’s assets.
The court ordered the seizure of a 30-kanal plot owned by Zulfi Bukhari, along with another four-kanal plot in Islamabad.
Additionally, the court ruled that Bukhari’s 1,210-kanal property in the Attock district, including a 91-kanal plot, be confiscated by the state.
The judge also sought a report within seven days.
Zulfi Bukhari, who has been declared an absconder in the high-profile case, remained at large.
The authorities continue to pursue further legal actions against him as the case unfolds under the scrutiny of anti-corruption efforts in Pakistan.
On September 1, 2024, the NAB filed a petition in an accountability court to seek the seizure of properties owned by Zulfi Bukhari.
According to the petition, Zulfi Bukhari has been declared a proclaimed offender by the court, prompting the request for the confiscation of his assets. These include 34 kanals of land in Islamabad and 1,300 kanals in Attock.
Sayed Zulfikar Abbas Bukhari, known as Zulfi Bukhari, is a UK-based Pakistani politician, businessman, and film producer.
He served as a Special Assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan in the capacity of a Minister of State in the federal cabinet until his resignation on 17 May 2021 over the allegations levelled at him in regard to the Rawalpindi Ring Road scandal.
The allegations were found to be politically motivated, initiated by PTI insiders to create distance between Zulfi Bukhari and Imran Khan. The investigation team formally cleared him, and PTI reinstated him in party positions. On 3 September 2022, he renounced his British nationality.
He has been an active member of PTI and a close aide to Imran Khan since 2011. In 2018, Bukhari was head of Imran Khan’s campaign in NA-53 Islamabad-II.
After the 2018 election victory, Imran Khan announced his cabinet. Bukhari was appointed as a Minister of State. He held the offices of Special Assistant to the PM on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Chairman of the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation, and Chairman of the National Tourism Coordination Board.
He was featured in May 2018 by The Muslim 100 Power List. He is the first Pakistani to appear on the cover of the Mayfair Times.
