A District and Sessions Court on Tuesday indicted Advocate Iman Mazari and Advocate Abdul Hadi Ali Chattha in the controversial tweet case involving state and national security institutions.
The indictment was announced by Additional District and Sessions Judge Afzal Majuka during the hearing. Both accused, however, were not present in court at the time.
Their assistant counsel appeared on their behalf and informed the judge that the couple had earlier attended the proceedings but left for another hearing in Rawalpindi.
The court asked under whose permission they had left the premises. Despite their absence, the judge read out the charges and directed the prosecution witnesses to appear the same day at 1:30 pm.
The assistant counsel requested a copy of the indictment order, to which the court instructed that a formal application be filed as per legal procedure. The hearing was then adjourned until 1:30 pm.
