Gandapur says Aleema Khan dividing PTI with military intelligence’s help

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur accused Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, of creating divisions within the party and alleged that she was receiving support from Military Intelligence (MI) and other elements within the establishment.

In a video statement, Gandapur declared his loyalty to Imran Khan, saying, “Imran Khan is my leader. I am loyal to him. It is my right to tell him the truth. I informed him about everything during our meeting yesterday.”

He said that initially, he was not allowed to meet Imran in jail, and the only communication from Khan reached the public through his sisters. “This created a significant divide within the party,” he claimed.

Regarding the KP budget, Gandapur said his government had to present it to avoid disqualification. “There were no instructions from Imran Khan not to present the budget, so we proceeded. But afterward, campaigns were launched labeling me and the parliament as traitors, which was highly inappropriate,” he added.

Gandapur said repeated attempts were made to get clarification through Khan’s sisters, but they received no response. “This gave the impression that we were working against Khan, which was never the case,” he explained.

When it came time to pass the budget, Gandapur said that even then, they struggled to secure a meeting with Imran Khan. “Eventually, Mirza Saif managed to meet him and explained the situation. We passed the budget only after assuring Khan sahib that he could amend it however he wished.”

He emphasized that Imran was informed he had the authority to stop the budget if he chose to. “Despite that, my MPAs and I were accused of betrayal. These campaigns continue to target us,” Gandapur said.

He rejected accusations that he was pushing a “minus Imran Khan” agenda, saying, “I told Imran Khan that no one in the party, including me, has the courage or intention to sideline him.”

Gandapur further alleged that Aleema Khan played a central role in sowing discord within PTI. “Some party members are being undermined, morale is falling, and no serious steps are being taken for Khan’s release. Instead, internal factionalism is being used to serve personal agendas,” he claimed.

He also accused Aleema of coordinating with vloggers who are deliberately fueling divisions. “Rather than stopping them, she’s encouraging them. Hafeezullah Niazi even refers to Aleema as the ‘prime minister’ in his articles and suggests she should become PTI chairperson,” Gandapur alleged.

He claimed organized campaigns were underway to promote Aleema Khan as PTI’s next leader. “I told Imran that if you want to appoint a new chairperson, go ahead. Whoever you choose will be acceptable—but make it official,” he said.

Gandapur criticized the current focus within the party, stating that “petty internal disputes” were being prioritized over efforts to secure Imran Khan’s release. “Instead of unity, we’re following a path that aligns with the establishment’s goals. Aleema Khan is playing a direct role in this,” he asserted.

He concluded by alleging that institutions were actively working to weaken PTI. “I told Khan sahib that, to my knowledge, Military Intelligence is facilitating Aleema Khan in this process,” he said.

Gandapur’s remarks came shortly after Aleema Khan spoke to reporters outside Adiala Jail, where Imran Khan remains incarcerated. When asked about Gandapur’s allegations, she responded by saying the KP chief minister had accused her during their meeting with Imran of collaborating with MI, orchestrating social media attacks against him, and seeking to become PTI chairperson.

She said Imran had shared Gandapur’s accusations with her and others with a laugh. “He was laughing while telling us,” she said.

Aleema reiterated Imran Khan’s position as PTI chairman, saying: “He is the only chairman. We will do everything for Imran Khan. We will tolerate everything, but we will not abandon him—no matter what happens.”

She also clarified that Imran communicates through family members only when party representatives are unavailable and that he explicitly directs what should be shared publicly and what should remain private.
