Govt decides to impose additional burden worth billions on consumers

The federal government has decided to impose additional burden of billions of rupees on consumers in terms of electricity bills, it was reported on Thursday.

All distribution companies including LESCO have filed an application on the basis of quarterly adjustment.

Nepra has fixed November 6 for hearing on the application filed by the companies.

LESCO has sought an increase of Rs6 billion in the quarter tariff.

According to documents, the increase has been sought in terms of capacity charges, operations and maintenance.

Increase has also been sought in terms of transmission charges and other matters.

The additional price will be charged upon approval from Nepra.
