Sufi music icon Abida Parveen’s team has strongly denied widespread social media rumours regarding her health, calling the claims “baseless” and “irresponsible.”
The clarification came through a detailed Instagram story shared on her official account, aiming to calm worried fans and counter growing misinformation.
The official statement read: “Hello, everybody! We have posted about it before, but it seems like it needs to be reiterated.
“Abida Ji is perfectly healthy and well, Alhamdulillah.”
The team’s message arrived after a week of intense online speculation, where several posts falsely claimed that Parveen was seriously ill.
Some unverified reports even alleged that the singer was battling cancer and had been denied free medical treatment by a hospital.
Her management expressed disappointment over how the rumours spread rapidly, particularly criticising established media outlets for publishing unconfirmed information.
“The rumours spreading on social media lately have blown out of proportion.
“Well-known media outlets have been reporting on news without confirmation and absolutely no substantial proof.”
They added that such irresponsible reporting causes unnecessary panic among fans who deeply admire the artist for her spiritual voice.
The post further thanked Parveen’s supporters for their concern but urged everyone to check facts before sharing unverified news online.
“We greatly appreciate your concern, but please verify the information you receive on social media instead of peddling it forward with no authentication.”
Her representatives also made a formal appeal to news platforms to delete any false stories concerning her health, emphasising the importance of journalistic responsibility.
“We formally request all media outlets to take down all of the unverified posts in relation to Abida Ji’s health.”
The statement concluded with an apology to fans for the confusion caused and a gentle reminder to keep the artist in their prayers.
