The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday released the schedule for local government (LG) elections to be held in Quetta on December 28, 2025 besides rejecting the Balochistan government’s request to postpone the polls.
As per the notification issued by the ECP, candidates will be able to file their nomination papers from November 13 to November 17, while the list of the candidates will be published on November 18.
The scrutiny of the papers will be done between November 19 and November 24, while appeals could be filed by November 28, read the notification.
The appellate tribunal would decide the appeals by December 3, while the candidates would be allotted symbols on December 6.
The notification placed a ban on announcements for development schemes.
It also placed a ban on the transfers of government officers till the announcement of results.
Polling will be held between 8:00 AM in the morning and 4:00 PM in the evening.
Also on Monday, the election commission rejected the Balochistan government’s request to postpone the LB polls in Quetta and directed the provincial government to make foolproof security arrangements for the purpose.
It made it clear that the elections would be held as per schedule.
