Fake Cricket league scandal rocks IOK: Players duped, organizers vanish without paying

SRINAGAR: A major fraud has surfaced in occupied Kashmir, where international cricketers were deceived under the guise of a cricket tournament.

According to media reports, players were invited to participate in a tournament named the Indian Heaven Premier League (IHPL).

However, top players such as Shaun Marsh and Shakib Al Hasan declined to take part despite receiving invitations.

Reports revealed that the tournament had to be postponed due to non-payment to players, and the event’s organizers and league owners disappeared overnight without clearing dues. As a result, West Indies star Chris Gayle left the tournament midway.

After a few matches were played at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar, the situation deteriorated, prompting police to launch an investigation into the incident.

The so-called Indian Heaven Premier League was scheduled to be held from October 25 to November 8, but payments were not made to players, umpires, or hotel owners.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) and the JK Sports Council have distanced themselves from the event, clarifying that they had no connection with the controversial tournament.
