Pakistan’s global stature changed after victory in Marka-e-Haq: Ahsan

LONDON: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal on Friday said that Pakistan’s position on the global stage has changed after victory in Marka-e-Haq (Battle for Truth).

Addressing overseas Pakistanis at the Pakistan High Commission in London and also speaking to the media, Ahsan Iqbal said that before this battle, India had positioned itself as the “regional policeman”. He said that our armed forces gave a strong response to the Indian aggression, and under the leadership of the Field Marshal, Pakistan defeated India.

Ahsan Iqbal said that the people of Palestine and Kashmir better know the value of having a state. He said that before May 6, a certain political party was busy spreading propaganda against Pakistan, its armed forces, and the Army Chief. On May 10, it was proven that Pakistan has never seen a commander as brave as Field Marshal Asim Munir.

He said that the nation and the army demonstrated great courage in the war with India. He praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, saying that upon taking office, he made difficult but necessary decisions. “If anyone else had been Prime Minister, they would not have made such tough calls. The previous government, before leaving, artificially reduced fuel prices,” he noted.

He further said that when we came into power, we were compelled to raise fuel prices — yet not a single protest was seen in any city. He said that Pakistan is now again on road to progress. The previous attempts were derailed due to political instability, but this time we must ensure sustained success, he said.
