PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to send the declaration of the Peace Jirga, scheduled for tomorrow (November 12), to the federal government and all security institutions, and to present it in the upcoming Apex Committee meeting.
Representatives of major political parties have confirmed their participation in the Jirga. Special passes have been issued to participants, while the entry of unrelated individuals will be prohibited. A special security plan has been finalised, and seating arrangements for 400 participants have been made in the provincial assembly hall.
The KP government has convened the Peace Jirga to discuss the province’s law and order situation and security operations. The Jirga will be held at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, chaired by Speaker Babar Saleem Swati, and attended by Chief Minister Sohaib Afridi. All necessary arrangements have been completed.
According to sources, more than 20 political parties have been invited, including the ANP, PPP, PML-N, JUI, Jamaat-e-Islami, QWP, and PML-Q. Bar councils, lawyers, and civil society representatives have also confirmed their participation.
Sources added that a committee will be formed to draft the Jirga’s declaration, which will be jointly announced by the Chief Minister and the Speaker. It has been decided that the declaration will be shared with the federal government and all security institutions, followed by an Apex Committee meeting where the declaration will be formally presented.
