SOPs issued for roadside hotels, cafes in Karachi

The Commissioner Karachi issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for roadside hotels, restaurants, and cafes in the city, it was reported on Tuesday.

According to details, chairs and tables will be placed on the roads as per the newly issued SOPs. The placing of chairs and tables will be banned on 100-foot-wide roads.

A complete ban is also imposed on creating any hurdle on the footpath, service lane, or road shoulder.

Permission for placing chairs and tables on 60 to 100-foot-wide roads will be granted after obtaining a no-objection certificate (NOC).

The hotels and café will be allowed to place chairs and tables on a 5-foot-wide road. There should be no hurdle for pedestrians.

The permission will be cancelled in case of any complaint filed by the residents of the area. The implementation of these SOPs is necessary to ensure the security of pedestrians at public places.
