NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq once again invites opposition for dialogue

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has once again extended an offer of dialogue to the opposition during the National Assembly session.

Speaking on the floor of the House, the NA speaker said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had repeatedly invited the opposition for talks, and the Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar had also made multiple such offers. “As the speaker of the National Assembly, I am ready to facilitate dialogue between the government and the opposition,” he added.

The speaker emphasised that solutions would emerge only when both sides sat together. “Even if no outcome comes on the first day, continuing the process of dialogue will eventually yield results. It is my responsibility to bring the government and opposition to the negotiating table,” he remarked.

Sadiq also responded to criticism from the opposition, saying, “I have defeated your leader twice, and not a single petition was filed against me in this election. No one challenged the results of my constituency, so how can you say we are not true representatives of the people?”

He urged the opposition to accept his invitation for talks, saying, “Constructive outcomes will come from dialogue, not confrontation. You talk about negotiations with India, Afghanistan, and Iran—so for that too, we must first learn to sit and talk right here.”
