NDA sweeps Bihar assembly elections with overwhelming majority

The ruling alliance in the Indian state of Bihar has secured a sweeping victory in the state assembly elections.

According to the results, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) — comprising the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (United) — won 203 out of 243 seats.

The Mahagathbandhan (MGB) managed to secure 34 seats, while other parties claimed 6 seats.

In the first phase of polling held on 6 November, voter turnout stood at 65.08 percent, while the second phase on 11 November recorded a turnout of 68.14 percent.
