Premature IED blast foils terrorists’ plot to blow up Bannu bridge

BANNU: Terrorists’ attempt to destroy a bridge in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district was foiled on Tuesday when an improvised explosive device (IED) went off before it could be planted, police said.

According to District Police Office spokesperson Amir Khan, two militants were preparing to target the Doghoda Bridge when the device exploded early, killing one of them instantly. The second militant sustained injuries and managed to flee.

Police teams reached the site, collected forensic evidence, and began the process of identifying the deceased attacker. A search operation has also been launched to locate the injured militant.

The incident comes nearly a month after security forces thwarted a terrorist attack on a police station in Bannu.
