SJC, Judicial Commission reconstituted under 27th Amendment

ISLAMABAD: Following the 27th Constitutional Amendment, the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), Judicial Commission (JC), and the Practice and Procedure Committee have been reconstituted.

The Supreme Court (SC) issued an official statement, according to which Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail has been appointed as a member of the Supreme Judicial Council in consultation with both Chief Justices.

Justice Aamer Farooq has been nominated as a member of the Judicial Commission, while Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail has also been nominated as a member of the Practice and Procedure Committee. Chief Justice Yahya Afridi will serve as the head of the Supreme Judicial Council.

Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan will be the second senior member of the Judicial Council. Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Hassan Rizvi, and Justice Jamal Mandokhail will also serve as members of the Council. Justice Mandokhail’s nomination was finalized after consultation between the two Chief Justices.

Chief Justice Yahya Afridi will also head the Judicial Commission. Chief Justice Amin Khan, Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Hassan Rizvi, and Justice Aamer Farooq have been appointed as members of the Commission.

In addition, Law Minister Azam Tarar and Attorney General Mansoor Awan will be members of the Commission. Two members of Parliament each from the government and opposition will also serve on the Commission. A lawyer nominated by the Pakistan Bar Council and a woman member nominated by the Speaker of the National Assembly will also be part of the Commission.
