Participants of National Defence University’s 27th National Security Workshop met with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in Lahore on Saturday.
In the meeting, Maryam Nawaz apprised participants of Punjab government’s public welfare and development initiatives.
Speaking on the occasion, Maryam Nawaz said after the success of Operation Banyan-un-Marsus, Pakistan is respected everywhere in the world.
Talking about the damages caused by the heavy monsoon, Punjab Chief Minister said not only millions of people but also livestock were saved in the floods.
“People were angry when encroachments were removed but we cannot do good work if we are afraid of not getting votes,” Maryam Nawaz said.
She said corruption may not be completely under control at the lower level, but now it is not possible at the top level.
Maryam Nawaz said for the first time in history, women are working as ministers, secretaries, commissioners, DCs and DPOs. “Marriyum Aurangzeb, Uzma Bukhari, Sania Ashiq and Salma Butt are working very hard and very well,” Maryam Nawaz said.
She said merit, transparency and timely decision-making are the guiding principles of good governance. “Timely decision-making requires courage and then ability,” the CM said.
Maryam Nawaz said six-hour marathon sessions of ministers and secretaries are being held to review the performance of departments.
Not buying wheat officially benefits the middleman, not the farmer and we have to face criticism for not buying wheat.
Punjab is the only province where the prices of bread, flour and wheat have not increased, Maryam Nawaz said.
Maryam Nawaz said good governance is not possible without a sense of accountability and responsibility.
The inflation rate has come down from 40 percent to 4 percent, Maryam Nawaz said.
With vegetables, bread and flour becoming cheaper, the poor man’s kitchen can run easily, Maryam Nawaz said.
She said fear and anger cannot be used but positive cooperation was received from the bureaucracy.
Maryam Nawaz said 1650 roads measuring 30,000 kilometers are being built in Punjab and we saved billions of rupees through e-tendering.
Even the wife of a journalist who criticized us is forced to say that I feel safe in Maryam Nawaz’s Punjab, Maryam Nawaz said.
Government is also providing wheelchairs in every e-bus for special people, Maryam Nawaz said.
She said government building the best and most modern burn hospital and orthopedic hospital in Punjab with first government cancer hospital in Pakistan.
Government is effectively treating first-stage cancer through ablation machine, Maryam Nawaz said.
We saved dozens of deaths by timely transfer of patients to hospitals through air ambulance service, Punjab CM said.
Maryam Nawaz said a woman who fell from a roof in southern Punjab was taken to the hospital by air ambulance.
She said heart surgery card project has been started for 15,000 children while 7,000 heart surgeries have been performed.
She said government is also building a 1,000-bed cardiology hospital for the treatment of children across Pakistan.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif said we are going to completely mechanize agriculture and for the first time, three hundred thousand cattle have been added to promote livestock.
She said with the help of thermal imaging drone cameras, millions of people and animals who fell in the flood were saved.
The fate of cities and villages will change under the Lahore Development Plan and Punjab Development Program, Maryam Nawaz said.
The world’s largest waste management program has been started in Punjab, Maryam Nawaz said.
She said government is providing business opportunities at home for women who do not go out and work.
I think that creating more provinces will further divide the country, Maryam Nawaz said.
She said Punjab is the only province where work is being done for the improvement and protection of the environment.
Maryam Nawaz said we opened the doors of economic zones and industrial estates for investors.
She said the Garment City Plug and Play project is ready and we will start it soon.
Maryam Nawaz said Punjab has 2400 MW of electricity and I want to bring a power unit at Rs16/17.
Maryam Nawaz said the standard of political ethics should be set, if you have made an accusation then prove it and we will respond to the accusations with a performance narrative.
