Khawaja Asif slams PTI ‘runaways’ for harming Pakistan’s interests

Defence Minister and senior PML-N leader Khawaja Muhammad Asif has slammed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for running a campaign against the GSP Plus facility granted to Pakistan by the European Union.

In a post uploaded on his X platform on Wednesday morning, Khawaja Asif challenged PTI “runaways” to return to Pakistan and run their anti-state campaign from here. “The PTI escapees who are sitting abroad have first looted Pakistan and now, by extorting money from Pakistanis abroad, are living luxurious lives. If you have the courage, then come to Pakistan and fight your war here. In Europe, by running a campaign against the GSP+ facility granted to Pakistan, they are committing treason.”

He further said “Fight your battles in Pakistan. Both Benazir Bhutto, the martyr, and Nawaz Sharif faced moments of trial in politics; they were imprisoned, and their dear relatives and family members were also jailed. Dictatorship targeted both of them in the most severe manner: the utmost oppression was inflicted upon their workers. But no one ever thought of targeting the interests of the dear homeland.”

The defence minister remarked political battles were fought on Pakistan’s soil, and their price was also paid, but no one ever considered casting a blemish on the homeland or targeting the nation.

He said “Imran Khan and Company, after losing power, first wrote a letter to the IMF in an attempt to bankrupt Pakistan, and now they are lobbying to harm Pakistan’s exports. If all this were done by India, it would make sense, but when those who call themselves Pakistani do it, they will be a disgrace to the homeland and will be called traitors.
