Punjab CM Maryam orders tough action against land mafia

Giving a stern warning to those occupying the properties of widows and other hapless people in the province, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz made it clear on Thursday that such people would not be spared.

Presiding over a meeting in Lahore, she ordered that cases of land grabbing should be settled immediately.

The chief minister also said that there would be monitoring of such cases on a daily basis so that it could be judged how much progress had been made on their resolution.

CM Maryam also ordered that progress reports be submitted to her daily.

She also ordered complete enforcement of Ordinance, 2025.

She also expressed displeasure over delays in the resolution of such cases in Gujrat, Layyah, Hafizabad and other districts.

It was decided in the meeting that people would be informed of the steps taken by the provincial government against land mafia through announcements made from the loudspeakers of mosques.

CM Maryam directed that the offices of assistant commissioners at tehsil levels should also receive complaints against land grabbers.

The meeting was briefed that 2,919 such complaints were received from across the province during the last three weeks.

It was also informed that district dispute resolution committees resolved 499 such cases.

The chief minister also ordered the deputy commissioners to hold meetings daily on the issue.
