Nazish Jahangir has addressed the recent online backlash over an old Q&A clip, clarifying that her remarks about Pakistan cricket captain Babar Azam were being taken out of context.
Recently, during an informal session, a user asked her about a marriage proposal from Babar Azam.
“I would politely decline,” she replied, sparking a wave of reactions online.
Responding to the backlash, Nazish wrote: “I’m seeing an old Q&A clip being taken out of context and turned into unnecessary controversy.
“I have great respect for Babar Azam and for our entire Pakistan cricket team. They are our national pride, and I would never say or imply anything disrespectful towards them.”
The actress emphasised positivity, adding, “Let’s not spread negativity, especially toward our own players who give their best for the country. Love and respect to all.”

Many praised the actress for handling the situation with composure, while others found the moment unexpectedly humorous.
Nazish Jahangir is known for her role as Zoya in Thais, Faiza in Tohmat, Nimra in Kam Zarf and Shameela in Kahin Deep Jaley. Other than acting, she is known for her work as a mental health awareness activist.
In 2017, she made her TV debut with the Bharosa drama. Jahangir has also appeared in Kahin Deep Jaley, Alif, Allah Aur Insaan, Tohmat, Thays, Kam Zardari, Beparwah, Dard Rukta Nahi, Ghamandi, Inaam-e-Mohabbat, Berukhi, Teri Behisi, Saraab and Meray Mohsin.
In 2020, the actress revealed that she had been battling PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) for the last 10 years, and continues to struggle with mental health issues.
In 2022, Jahangir made her film debut opposite Sami Khan in the movie Lafengay. In 2024, she appeared in the romantic comedy film Poppay Ki Wedding along with Khushhal Khan.
Jahangir has been nominated as the best emerging talent in TV at the Lux Style Awards.
