Cristiano Ronaldo has ventured into the world of mixed martial arts by becoming a shareholder in the Spanish MMA promotion WOW FC, marking a major crossover between global football stardom and combat sports.
The Portuguese icon, currently representing Al-Nassr and the Portugal national team, announced the partnership on his official X (formerly Twitter) account. “I’m excited to share some big news: I will become a shareholder of @wowfcmma! We share values I truly believe in – discipline, respect, resilience, and the constant pursuit of excellence,” he wrote.
Ronaldo added that he has followed MMA for years and sees WOW FC as a promotion with significant potential. “WOW FC is building something unique and powerful, and I’m proud to join this project to help elevate the sport and inspire the next generation,” he said.
The promotion’s co-owner and UFC champion Ilia Topuria welcomed Ronaldo’s involvement, calling it “a powerful moment for the entire sport” and stating that their aim is to take MMA to “new heights.”
WOW FC also celebrated the announcement, saying, “Cristiano is much more than a sports icon; he is a global role model on and off the field. One of the greatest athletes of all time is joining our family to further accelerate the global growth of MMA.”
Ronaldo’s move marks yet another high-profile step in his post-football business expansion, bringing star power and global attention to the rising MMA promotion.
