Ali Zafar announces ‘Roshni’, new album drops December 20 after 15 years

Ali Zafar earlier confirmed that his long-awaited fourth studio album, Roshni, will be released on 20 December 2025, posting the news directly to his X account: “My 4th album ‘Roshni’ to release 20th December. Watch out this space.”

Yesterday, in a promotional video for most-awaited food and music festival Soulfest, happening in Lahore from December 19 till December 21, 2025, the singer re-stated the release of his album, and shared his excitement to be performing it for the first time in public on the 21st.

The announcement marks a formal return to full-length albums for Zafar after a 15-year gap.

He’s already put out the first track from the project, “Zalim Nazron Se,” which arrived in late November and gave fans an early taste of the record.

Ahead of the album launch, Zafar has been previewing songs at live appearances.

He also performed unreleased songs from the album at high-profile events, including at the DP World ILT20 opening ceremony, providing a chance for listeners to hear the new material in a large-audience setting before the official drop.

Streaming platforms and music channels will likely publish track listings and pre-save links in the coming days. In the meantime, listeners have the single and live previews to set expectations for the album’s sound and themes.

Ali Zafar is widely regarded as one of South Asia’s most versatile entertainers – a singer-songwriter, actor, painter, and performer whose career has spanned over two decades. He first shot to fame with his debut album Huqa Pani (2003), whose breakout track “Channo” became a massive hit. The album sold millions of copies worldwide and earned him the Best Album honour at the Lux Style Awards.

Over the years, Zafar continued to deliver chart-topping songs, from peppy pop hits like “Masty” and “Dekha,” to more soulful and experimental tunes on albums such as Masty (2006) and Jhoom (2011).

But Zafar didn’t stop at music alone. He ventured into acting, achieving notable success across both Pakistani and Indian cinema. His Bollywood debut in Tere Bin Laden (2010) earned him widespread acclaim, followed by roles in popular films such as Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, London, Paris, New York and Chashme Baddoor.

Back home, Zafar also produced and starred in the blockbuster Pakistani film Teefa in Trouble (2018), reinforcing his reputation as a multi-talented entertainer.

His work has not gone unrecognized: he has earned multiple music and film awards over his career, including several Lux Style Awards, an MTV Style Award for Best Male Artist, as well as civilian honours in Pakistan for his contributions to the arts.
