Baloch separatist leader lays down arms in Sui along with over 100 associates

In a significant development for peace and stability in Balochistan, separatist leader Wadera Noor Ali Chakrani on Friday laid down arms along with more than a hundred of his associates, formally pledging allegiance to the state of Pakistan and the national flag.

The surrender ceremony, held in Sui, was described as a historic moment reflecting the impact of the Balochistan Chief Minister’s people-centric vision and firm measures for restoring law and order in the province. Senior tribal elder Mir Aftab Ahmed Bugti warmly welcomed Chakrani and his comrades as they rejoined national life.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mir Aftab Ahmed Bugti urged other individuals still in the mountains to lay down arms and participate in the national mainstream, emphasizing that reconciliation offers a better future for Balochistan’s youth.

Sui Town Chairman Izzatullah Aman Bugti highlighted that the chief minister’s peace policy has helped rebuild public trust across the region. He noted that strong action against terrorism—combined with development-focused, people-friendly initiatives—has begun yielding results.

“Public cooperation is the key to achieving lasting peace and development in Balochistan,” said Mir Aftab Ahmed Bugti, reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring stability, prosperity, and opportunities for all communities across the province.

The surrender is being viewed as a major step toward strengthening peace efforts in the historically troubled district of Dera Bugti, signalling renewed hope for long-term stability in the region.
