Chechen leader Kadyrov promises retaliation after Ukrainian attack

Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov vowed a swift response after a Ukrainian drone struck a high-rise building in Grozny, the capital of Russia’s southern Chechnya region.

Officials confirmed there were no casualties in the attack.

Kadyrov took to Telegram to report that the drone strike damaged a complex of high-rise buildings in the city but caused no injuries.
He described the attack as lacking tactical purpose and criticized it as an act by “Ukrainian fascists.”

Kadyrov vows retaliation within week

In a follow-up Telegram post, Kadyrov promised a stern response over the coming week, adding that Chechen forces would act differently from Ukraine by avoiding attacks on civilian targets.

“Starting from tomorrow and in the course of the week, the Ukrainian fascists will be feeling a stern response,” he wrote, emphasizing that they would not target peaceful civilians.

Ukraine has carried out several previous attacks in Chechnya, targeting locations such as a police barracks and a military training academy.
Kadyrov, a staunch supporter of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, has deployed Chechen forces to the conflict and remains a vocal defender of Moscow’s military actions.
